Which, in the case of small patches of terrain paint, will be that too.īut I totally understand the need for the 1K version! I've been switching from 1K to 2K myself depending on the worlds too That's why I initially figured it would be a good idea to include a version (the 1K version) where the size doesn't change from the original texture files, just the texture itself. To summarize it well: 1K - 1024 x 1024, or more likely, the size is exactly the same size as EA shipped the game with. So every time the game renders a "frame" (hence that FPS is a thing), it re-renders certain parts of that frame. Textures in the game are being "cached" so to speak in the memory itself IIRC. But it makes sense that you'll see some RAM increase there. (The game initially doesn't have a limited amount it uses for VRAM, just memory usage). Ohh thanks for the little research there! Personally, I had been looking at the VRAM, since I noticed that that could have some performance hits too if your GPU isn't as great. It's a small increase, but for someone like me who has a larger world and many mods, it's a big deal. Needless to say this game doesn't always agree with bigger image sizes than base. 1k version keeps levels at base game use. Love the textures and thank you! Small note on the 2k version RAM use will increase by roughly 100-150mb, and I haven't tested the 4k version.
